Conditions We Treat | The Mind Grove TMS Center

The Mind Grove TMS Center offers TMS therapy for adults and adolescents ages 15 and older across a range of conditions. Below is an overview of the conditions we treat. Insurance is accepted for qualifying indications.

Treatment-Resistant Depression

Treatment-resistant depression refers to major depressive disorder that has not responded adequately to antidepressant medication or evidence-based psychotherapy. Definitions of TRD vary across clinical guidelines and insurance carriers. Conventional rTMS was developed specifically for this population and remains its most well-established indication. It is FDA-cleared and insurance-covered for treatment-resistant depression in adults and adolescents ages 15 and older.

PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder can develop following exposure to traumatic events and is characterized by intrusive memories, hypervigilance, avoidance, and changes in mood and cognition. The Mind Grove offers TMS for PTSD on an off-label basis. FDA clearance for this indication has not yet been granted, though clearance is potentially anticipated within the year. Treatment is not currently covered by insurance for PTSD.

Major Depressive Disorder

Major depressive disorder is characterized by persistent low mood, loss of interest, and a range of cognitive and physical symptoms that interfere with daily functioning. TMS is FDA-cleared for MDD in adults and adolescents ages 15 and older, including patients with co-occurring anxiety symptoms, and is covered by insurance for qualifying indications.

Anxiety Treatment

Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by excessive, persistent worry that interferes with daily life. Symptoms may include restlessness, muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, and sleep disturbances. TMS is emerging as a promising option for individuals when traditional treatments like medication and therapy have not provided sufficient relief.

Anxious Depression

Anxious depression, clinically referred to as MDD with anxious distress, is a distinct specifier in which significant anxiety symptoms occur exclusively during a depressive episode. It is one of the harder presentations to treat through medication alone. iTBS addresses both symptom clusters simultaneously, without the pharmacological balancing act. FDA-cleared for MDD with co-occurring anxiety.
